Some Shameless Mongolian Mission Propaganda

A couple of weeks ago my sister connected me with a fellow who was collecting interviews from missionaries of all LDS missions in the church, but he was deficient a few - including Mongolia.  It turned out that this person lived just 10 minutes up the road.  So I sat down for an interview.  I know what you are thinking, it must have been difficult to persuade a lawyer to talk - twist my arm - and especially hard to get Brett to talk about his time in Mongolia.  Well I guess I found the courage and so I thought I would share a few clips.

Before I get to the videos, there are always a few things that I have found when you are interviewed and have to then watch yourself or read what you spoke.  (1) Boy do I mumble.  I guess there are just some thought which are not important enough to speak fully and clearly.  I like to tell myself that I have so many thoughts that they all just come out at the same time.  More likely, I think I have just a big old fat tongue and no patients.  (2) I am startled by how many facts that I get wrong.  I am beginning to think that all those time my kids tell me that I say something completely wrong, like "Go put your clothes in the dishwasher," that they may be right.  (3) I am not as cool as I think I am.  I guess I'll forget that dream of running for political office.

Beside looking the like the cover of the movie the 40 Year Old Virgin, this clip is about being transferred to Mongolia:
The next clip is about the early days in Mongolia.  I am starting to wonder if Youtube has an algorithm that seeks out your worst pose and uses that as the still for the clip.
Yes, definite there is a Youtube dork algorithm.  How else do you explain the Petter Cottontail bunny pose.  Next and I am going to talk about the weather...oooooh.....gripping.
Now in this video screen shot I look like a motivational speaker. I guess I'll take what I can get.
Now here is how you do a real interview about the church in Mongolia.  At least it is nice to know that even Elder Holland get his facts wrong. I think the real number is 1 in every 100 Ulaanbaatar residents is LDS. I am pretty sure there are not 50,000 members in UB.
Here is the full video set if you are really bored or just want to feel good about your own speaking abilities.  All in all, I always love talking about my mission because the Mongolians are such amazing people.
